SIMTRACK rails are the result of many years of research and development.

The roll form machine was designed on CAD as was the rail profile and posts, all engineered to be strong, effective, yet simple enough to have minimal components for erection and handling.

RAILS

The rail itself is manufactured using BHP colourbond steel, a light, yet extremely flexible and durable material. After extensive testing, the rail has proved lighter yet stronger than most other rails of its kind.

The rail overlaps together (approx.350mm) with seamless joints. This allows thermal expansion, so no more buckles or gaps as are found in 'butted' together rails, just a smooth and almost seamless line. More important with such a joint should an impact occur severe enough to break the rail apart, there is no edge of rail jutting out for the next horse to run into because the rail is always erected so that the overlapping outside rail runs with the direction of racing.

The post does not have to be inserted in an exact position either, but rather is flexible enough to be placed anywhere within 200mm of the ideal post centre. Design features such as these have made the product an outstanding success. The comparison of this new design compared to Tony Sims's original design used by Steriline is massive, and reflected by every single Simtrack client.

PLATES

Only one plate is required to attach posts to the rail. There is no additional backing plate, and no special tools to insert the plate into the rail.

These plates can be clipped in by hand, and all is required to attach the rail then is a single bolt. Bolts have special heads which locks into the plate, so there is no need for an additional spanner to hold the bolt from behind the plate.

POSTS

The posts are made from 42mm outside diameter galvanised steel tube. They are highly corrosive resistant, and will easily last the lifetime of the rail. The top of the posts have a slotted hole to which the rail is bolted, which allows vertical adjustment should the ground undulate. At the base of the post there is one of two types of pressed indents to assist its erection, pending on whether it is a fixed or movable rail. Both patented fixings are simple and very easy to use.

TWISTFIX

Fixed or permanent posts have been brilliantly engineered for an easy and quick method of erection. The 'Twistfix' system as it is referred, is installed by simply jack hammering into the ground a tubular peg (approx.500mm deep), and then locking the post over it. A portion of the peg is exposed out of the ground (approx.100mm) which has been pressed into a triangular shape.

The post itself has a corresponding flattened end which slides over the exposed peg, and is then twisted (approx.30 degrees) locking the post into position. There are no bolts, locking nuts or screws required.

PINFIX

The movable rail system was designed to be extremely quick to move from one position to the next. With the cost of moving a complete track considerable, our product has proven to save thousands of dollars in labour.

The only way the 'Pinfix' system differs to the Twistfix is the way its posts are fixed into the ground. With most other movable rails, the post have large clamps, brackets or other dangerous fittings that protrude from the base of the post in order to attach itself to a ground fixed pin, which can cause sever injury to both horse and rider in a fall. SIMTRACKS patented Pinfix system however avoids this danger by pressing an indentation into the base of the post.

A galvanised steel pin is driven into the ground (with jackhammer) and the protruding portion of the pin from the ground then 'nests' into the posts indentation. A pressed sleeve slides over the post and pin and fixes the two together once again without nut or bolt or any tool.

To move the rail to a new position the sleeve is simply lifted up, and the post is then free to be placed into its new position. There is no simpler, safer or quicker way to reposition rail than the SIMTRACK Pinfix system. Our sales record and client endorsements prove this beyond doubt.

PLASTIC RAIL SYSTEM

Presently in the final R&D stages, this new product will stand out from all other plastic rails in the market. A simple fixing system which is extremely safe coupled with an unmatched lifetime guarantee in excess of 20 years, it will become THE preferred rail of its type in the racing world.
